    Governance

    The activities of the alliance are coordinated by a Strategic Board with the oversight of trustee observers from The Charter Educational Trust. The Board undertakes four core governance functions:

    1. Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction
    2. Holding the Director and Strategic Partners to account for the content, quality and impact of the alliance’s work
    3. Overseeing financial performance, ensuring financial probity and that money is well spent
    4. Reporting termly on the work of the alliance to The Charter Educational Trust Risk and Audit Committee

    Members of the Strategic Board are:

    • Independent Chair: Dame Sue John – Executive Director of Challenge Partners and Chair of Trustees for the Brilliant Club. Sue was formerly Headteacher of Lampton School, a National Teaching School judged outstanding by Ofsted on three consecutive occasions
    • Jennese Alozie – Head of Standards, STEP Academy Trust
    • Kate Atkins – Headteacher of Rosendale Research School
    • Cassie Buchanan – CEO of Charter Educational Schools Trust
    • Christabel Cowling – Audit Partner, UK Head of Regulatory & Public Policy, Ernst & Young LLP
    • Christian Hicks, Headteacher of The Charter School North Dulwich
    • Aislinn O’Toole – Lead Analytics GMP Trainer, Jellyfish
    • Helen Poyton – Headteacher of Dulwich Village Infant School, Chair of Southwark Heads
    • Jo Rooney – Headteacher of John Donne Primary School
    • Jan Shadick – Chief Executive Officer, Haberdashers’ Aske’s Federation Trust
    • Patrick Whibley – Staff Tutor at Dulwich College

    Working Groups and Strategic Partners

    The Working Groups bring together representatives from Strategic Partner Schools who lead on design and delivery of activity in each of three areas:

    • Continuing Professional Development and Research
    • Initial Teacher Training and Early Career Teachers
    • School-to-school Support
