Improving Literacy in Key Stage 2

    Overview

A three-day programme based on the EEF’s Improving Outcomes in Literacy at KS2 guidance report, supporting teachers and leaders to:

    • Understand the key aspects of how children learn to read and write successfully, including the importance of developing language capability
    • Review, rethink and plan for sustainable improvements in reading and writing.
    • Understand the features of effective implementation

    What is involved?

Each day offers a range of practical activities accompanied by an exploration of the relevant evidence. Case studies, audit tools and resources are included throughout.

The programme will involve the use of an initial audit tool which will promote reflective dialogue and enable schools to identify priorities for improvement, review practice and respond to the evidence from face to face days.

    Who is the programme for?

This programme is aimed at English subject leads and senior teachers.
